About Thomas

Thomas Oppel, brings his extensive experience in communications, management, government, politics and policy as a senior leader on an array of projects. 

In addition to working with Ward Circle Strategies, Oppel is founder and President of O2 Strategies, based in Canaan, New Hampshire.

His career includes serving as Chief of Staff to the Secretary of the Navy in the Obama Administration, as executive vice president at the American Sustainable Business Network and as Mississippi Gov. Ray Mabus’ Communications Director and Senior Advisor.

In the prior decades, Oppel managed state and federal political campaigns, creating targeted outreach, media and messaging strategies. Prior to his work helping elect statewide leaders, members of Congress and mayors, Oppel worked as a journalist in the New England and the South.
