She has developed communication and crisis preparedness plans and provided client direction for leveraging existing assets (including data bases, organization’s membership and relationships). She has facilitated collaboration with other groups who share a similar goal and mission. Anne has provided strategic analyses and recommendations for client thought leader opportunities, web sites/blogs, messaging, and other communication platforms. She has specialized in creating high-impact collaterals and communication materials and is the “go-to” team member for adding a creative spark to client engagements.

In addition to her work with Ward Circle, Anne is a trusted public affairs advisor to a variety of clients through her own consultancy, ANP Communications. Anne specializes in working with non-profits, helping them with strategic positioning and message guidance. Prior to her consulting work, Anne worked for some of the nation’s largest and most respected PR firms such as Burson-Marsteller and its subsidiary, Cohn & Wolfe. She also worked for boutique public affairs shops, such as The Wade Group and Gibraltar Associates.

For the past two years, Anne has focused on veteran employment issues on behalf of a respected, veteran-serving organization, helping to raise the visibility of the organization and facilitate collaboration at the national level.

In addition, Anne led, launched and managed social media programs to increase awareness for the need for routine testing for HIV/AIDS. Programs initiated on behalf of major pharmaceutical company were aimed at showing the changing geography and demographics of HIV/AIDS, reducing stigma surrounding testing and diagnosis of the disease and promoting the need for HIV testing as a standard of routine preventative health care. She managed a team that launched the first National AIDS Atlas to map the spread of HIV/AIDS down to the county level. The launch generated more than 20 million media impressions across all media platforms.

In the course of her 20+ year career, Anne has implemented integrated public affairs campaigns through organizing media and visibility events; managing TV and radio ad production; and coordinating polling, research and focus group efforts. She has written campaign manuals, messaging, reports and other communication materials as well as managed telemarketing programs.

Anne’s public affairs career includes work on presidential, senate, and advocacy campaigns, as well as a presidential inaugural committee. Clients have included, Paralyzed Veterans of America, National Minority Quality Forum, Gilead Sciences, Purina, American Gas Association, American Gaming Assn., U.S. Forest & Paper Assn., United States Postal Service and the U.S. Census Bureau, among others.

Anne earned a B.A. degree in Political Science from Ohio Wesleyan University.

  • While a Board Member for the Washington Animal Rescue League, Anne created the annual “Pasta for Pets” fundraising event. This popular family night of spaghetti and bingo is still going strong after 10 years.
  • Anne co-edited a cook book, Let’s Eat In– Family-tested Recipes from Around the World and Around Your Block. Anne also created a companion web site to market and sell the book.
  • She hosts an annual Haunted House that has been featured on the local news and attracts more than 200 visitors every Halloween. A “Toxic Recycling Center” and the “Butcher Shop/Organ Donation Center” are among the highlights.
