Senior Manager – Health Records Management

Who You Are

 You are a self-starter with a passion for creating meaningful impact and translating complex issues for a variety of audiences. You’re an excellent writer, analyst, researcher, and strategic thinker. You have experience in health information management, revenue cycle operations, risk management, and/or clinical documentation and coding, and are looking for an opportunity to apply your knowledge and skills in a hands-on process improvement and training role for a major government medical system. Job Description

Support Navy Medicine’s Health Records Management (HRM) Program Management Office (PMO) on multiple efforts related to clinical documentation and coding process improvement. This primary role is development and delivery of ICD-10 training for providers and coders but also includes support of the clinical documentation improvement (CDI) program, development of policies and procedures, and analysis of metrics to identify improvement opportunities.

Client Description

Navy Medicine’s Health Records Management (HRM) Division is responsible for ensuring the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of the information in patients’ medical records. The team supports the HRM Program Management Office (PMO) by applying program management principles and resources to ensure the success of functional and technical medical coding and record documentation initiatives.

 Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Industry-recognized certification as a Medical Coder and/or Clinical Documentation Specialist (at a minimum from both AHIMA and AAPC as this is required to get CEUs for the training from these organizations)
  • Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn Military-specific coding guidelines
  • Expertise and experience with both inpatient and outpatient ICD-10 coding systems including CM, PCS, and CPT
  • Superior oral and written communication skills – presentations can involve several hundred recipients at a time
  • Previous significant coding training experience
  • Demonstration of a client-ready presence
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, especially PowerPoint
  • Capable of working independently without much direction
  • Able to obtain or currently has an active Secret level security clearance.

Job Description 

Provide support to a large military health organization in efforts to optimize women’s health and readiness for the female beneficiary population. Activities include:

  • Provide strategic program and communication management support for related governance entities and clinical communities
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve the active duty patient experience for women’s health specific services
  • Provide analytical and program management support metrics and measures

Client Description 

Navy Medicine’s Special Clinical Programs (SCP) is a focal point in establishing policy and requirements for a variety of areas across Navy Medicine. SCP must be nimble in providing governing clinical support for a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including Congress, the Governmental Accountability Office (GAO), and Navy Medicine Leadership. The Office of Women’s Health, which is part of SCP, provides critical oversight and support regarding all women’s health related initiatives, policies, and activities across Navy Medicine and integrated with the Marine Corps and Operational Fleet of the Navy. The Office of Women’s Health oversees the preventive health and health care delivery of female active duty Sailors and Marines, beneficiaries, and retirees. In addition to Women’s Health, SCP support is provided for the Sexual Assault Forensic Exam Program Manager (SAFE-PM) as well as the Emergency Medicine Working Group (EMWG).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of professional experience, including previous consulting experience
