Ward Circle Strategies, Inc. is a public policy and communications firm specializing in delivering strategic guidance and hands-on support to our clients, with a focus on government policy, strategic communications, non-profit outreach, and program management. We offer a wide range of services from strategy development to media outreach, speechwriting, and material creation. At Ward Circle Strategies, we pride ourselves in focusing on causes and issues that we are passionate about – and that make a difference in our world. Manager

Who You Are

You are a self-starter with a passion for delivering impact and translating complex issues for a variety of audiences. You’re an excellent writer, analyst, researcher, and strategic thinker. You are passionate about and have experience working with Military and/or Veterans Service Organizations and/or the Department of Veterans Affairs, and are looking for an opportunity to apply your knowledge, skills and experience in a strategic program management role for Military and Veteran focused non-profit organizations. You know how to manage multiple projects against competing deadlines. You are a team player and also have impeccable judgment and the ability to operate at a high level independently.

Job Description

  • Provide program management and strategic advisory consulting support to clients in the Military & Veterans services sector
  • Manage client deliverables and oversee the work of junior staff assigned to client engagements
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on Military and Veterans issues
  • Cultivate relationships with clients and external audiences
  • Engage in business development opportunities to help our firm continue to grow 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5-7 years of professional experience working with Military and/or Veterans focused organizations
  • Understanding of the political and legislative environment around Military and Veterans issues and how to analyze the landscape to develop strategic and thoughtful recommendations for clients
  • Advanced writing skills, ability to write for senior level management and audiences, and proficiency in editing and composition
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Work well under the pressure associated with multiple short-notice deadlines
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to effectively translate lengthy and technical information into concise, easy to read content
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially PowerPoint and Word
  • Demonstration of a client-ready presence
  • Capable of working independently without much direction

Intern

Who You Are

You’re an excellent writer, researcher, and know how to manage multiple projects against competing deadlines. You are a team player but also have impeccable judgment and the ability to operate at a high level independently.

Job Description

  • Support senior staff in developing strategic communications strategies and products, including pitches to new/existing clients and media outreach
  • Conduct research, draft emails, briefings and proposals
  • Pull press clips and media lists
  • Coordinate call and meeting schedules, including booking conference rooms, organizing staff meetings and other administrative duties

This is a 10-week paid internship with the option of continuing the internship into full time employment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree
  • Interest in and familiarity with brand marketing/pitching, media outreach and public relations campaigns
  • Interest in government health policy
  • Works well with a team and independently
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Can produce concise, easy to read content
  • Comfortable working on multiple projects at the same time
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms
